- Strategy
- Arms an M30 fair value gap when M1 price trades back into it and enters when an M1 candle closes through the micro swing formed at the tap.
- Risk model
- Risk-based position size, stop beyond the tap extreme or far edge of the gap plus a buffer, target at 3R, one trade per zone.
What it does
The Expert Advisor version of the M30 FVG Setup indicator. It keeps a list of live M30 fair value gaps and trades the first confirmed return into each one.
How it works
- On start it scans the last 200 M30 bars, and then every closed M30 bar, for three-candle gaps above the minimum size.
- When an M1 candle trades into a live zone, the zone is armed.
- The entry fires when an M1 candle closes through the micro swing formed at the extreme of the tap.
- The stop goes beyond the tap extreme or the far edge of the gap plus a buffer; the target is 3 × risk. Each zone trades once and expires after its lifetime.
How to use it
Attach it to an M1 chart (gold was the original use case). Keep the FVG timeframe well above the confirmation timeframe so zones are meaningful.
Settings
| Input | Default | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| FVG timeframe | M30 | Zone source |
| Confirmation timeframe | M1 | Entry trigger |
| Bars scanned on start | 200 | Initial zone history |
| Min gap size | 0.10 × ATR | Gap filter |
| Zone lifetime | 96 | Zone expiry |
| Micro swing length | 3 | Trigger sensitivity |
Limitations
M1 entries are highly sensitive to spread and execution; a wide spread can erase the edge of a small stop. Fixed 3R targets ignore nearby obstacles.
