What it does
FXP Kill Zones shades the intraday windows that many session-based traders focus on. Each window is drawn as a filled rectangle covering the high and low traded inside it, with its name in the corner. All times are defined in New York time, which is how these windows are usually described, and converted to your broker's chart time automatically.
Default windows (New York time): Asia 20:00 to 00:00, London open 02:00 to 05:00, New York AM 07:00 to 10:00, London close 10:00 to 12:00 and an optional New York PM 13:30 to 16:00. Every window is editable.
How it works
- The candle's server time is converted to UTC with your server GMT offset and the server daylight-saving rule (none, US or EU).
- UTC is converted to New York time: UTC-5 in winter and UTC-4 during US daylight saving (second Sunday of March to first Sunday of November).
- If the New York time of the candle is inside a window, the candle belongs to that day's kill zone. Windows ending at 00:00 or crossing midnight are handled.
- The rectangle begins at the first candle of the window and stretches to the high and low of all candles in it. The live window updates as new candles arrive.
- Only new candles are processed on each update. An optional alert fires once when the first candle of a window opens.
How to use it
Copy the .ex5 file into MQL5/Indicators and attach it to an M1 to H1 chart, then set the server offset for your broker.
The kill zones are reference windows, not signals. Traders typically use them to decide when to pay attention: for example, watching whether the London kill zone sweeps the Asian high or low, or whether the New York AM window continues or reverses the London move. A tool that marks liquidity or structure is a natural companion. The forex sessions page explains why activity clusters around these hours.
Because New York time drives everything, the windows shift correctly when the US and Europe change clocks on different weekends, provided your server rule is set correctly.

Limitations
- A wrong server offset or daylight-saving rule shifts every window. Check your broker's clock before relying on the boxes.
- Windows are hidden on charts above H1.
- The shaded box only covers the window's high and low; it says nothing about what happens next.
- Time-of-day patterns change with market conditions and news. Use risk management on every trade. Trading involves substantial risk of loss.
